This company used to be very reliable but the last 3 times I have been seriously let down. Tonight is the last time I shall use them and I do not recommend any one else use them. To attend a wedding I booked a taxi 3 hrs in advance and it turned up 20 mins late. It was the only number I had on my phone so I booked it when I was at the event an hour and a half before the pickup. It turned up 45 mins late. When I rang the office all I was told was 'it was on its way'. Very unreliable and I would suggest you use another company if you want it tdco be on time.

On 9 June 2012 my mother accidentally left her handbag in a Crownhill Taxis' cab when we got out to catch a train. We could not have the bag the following Saturday when we arrived back in Plymouth because it was said to be in the taxi firm's safe. On Monday I tried again. The young man on the switchboard knew nothing of the bag so asked colleagues. A woman could be heard saying 'It had a lot of money in it'. I though 'Oh good' someone knows which bag I'm talking about. I was told to book it in for a taxi journey to my mother's home for the next night, which I did. I then asked about giving a reward to the taxi driver who had handed the bag in. I was told to make out an envelope for the driver and pass it to the man delivering the bag on Tuesday evening. The bag arrived Tuesday, I pid the taxi fare and handed over the reward envelope. When I looked inside the 300-400 that had been in there when we got in the taxi 9 June was not there. All that was returned in the way of money was a 1 pound coin and some coppers. Since then contact with the taxi firm's manager results in him saying the driver picked up an elderly couple after us on 9 June and they pointed the bag out to him. The driver claims he only saw a 20 pound note inside. Well in this scenario only the elderly couple or the driver could have taken the money. If I am to believe it was the elderly couple then where is the 20 pound the driver supposedly saw and handed in with the bag? Crownhill Taxi's also have my reward money. I will never use Crownhill Taxis again

It seems like a very similiar complaint made by a Mr Hickman was made on the Dial a Cab page of this site.  I have always had great service from Crownhill Taxis and believe them to be the best taxi firm in Plymouth having used most of the firms multiple times over the past 15 years.

Absolutely appalling I phoned on a tues to book an 8 seat mini bus on sat 7pm pick up to go and 1215 to collect I stood outside my house in my wedding dress for 20 mins waiting to be picked up and it took 3 phone calls to get it there on the way home we sat outside for 35 mins and shivered as the venue had closed and 5 phonecalls it finally appeared. A cursory sorry but no offer to reduce the fare or anything would not recommend to anyone.
