A very unpleasant experience, bordering on frightening. Driver # A1241. No point going into all the details, but after a rude and irrelevant comment at drop off, I asked for my tip back, the driver then asked me if I wanted more, throwing handfuls of loonies and toonies at me. I left them on the floor of his cab. He seemed like he may not be completely alright mentally.
Terrible. Was at Union Station. Told the driver I wanted to go to the U of T. Realizing that this would net him only about $15 he pretended like he couldn't understand me and drove up. His cab was number 655.
Today on my way to work I was hit by a driver of this company. I was on my bike and he wasn't looking where he was going, while making a 'rolling' stop at the lights. I thought I could keep going because for a split second the car stopped but then I guess he let off the brake and rolled right into me. My bike is a mess now and I took a pretty hard tumble, injuring my knee, hip, back and neck. I was able to work, but I will be getting an assessment done and filing a claim with his insurance company. I believe he thought that driving me to work and apologizing profusely is enough to let him off the hook, but you know what? if this is going to affect my work as a massage therapist in the future then he's got another thing coming. Oh yeah and his taxi licence expired in 2010!! WTF!
I also agree that Ambassador Taxi is the worst taxi service. First of all, my husband and I took a cab from Finch station back home on Saturday night and when I got off to pay the guy $20, he had the nerve to ask me for a different $20 bill because it was a not a good $20 bill. For God's sake, there was nothing wrong with the $20 bill I gave him. The only thing is that it was a folded $20 and yet he thinks there is something wrong with it. What an idiot. He was also asking us stupid questions, among others. An example: "why is there always traffic along finch?". OMG, as if I know. Whether he likes it or not, he has to take us where we tell him to take us and not complain about it.

I was returning by train from a trip on Thursday night. I wanted to take a cab home instead of taking the TTC. Should have taken the Better Way. The first cabby that pulled up asked where I was going. After I told him he moved off to the next person in line followed by another. He seemed to be cherry picking the ride he wanted to give. The next guy picked me up and when I told him I wanted to go to Eglinton Bathurst are he told me he had to go via MtPlesant due to constructionand it would be about $45. I told him to take Bathurst and gave him direstions and he argued all the way. The trip cost me $28 at the end.
My parents were picked up from St. Joseph's hospital this morning because they just missed their wheel trans ride. When the driver picked them up, my mom was saying to my dad that it was a shame that the Wheel trans didn't wait for them as they were only 5 minutes late getting to the pick up destination and the driver said to my mother he's tired of everyone nagging, nagging!! My mother should have told him that he should speak when he's being spoken too.
Bad enough he was rude, he didn't know where he was going and when he reached my parent's house, he almost left without giving my father his walker from the trunk. To top all that off, he STUNK!! I can't imagine what kind of company hires people like this. If you can't provide customer service, then get people who can, we have enough people out of jobs, that would probably be more than willing to be very courteous and go out of their way for the customer they are taking to their destination.
From the looks of the comments posted on this site, Ambassador Taxi does not have a very good reputation with the travelling public and I suggest that people give their business to another taxi company - there are enough of them out there!! I told my parents if they need a cab at the hospital again and Ambassador Taxi is the next one coming - WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.
Pretty sad when this is the type of service we get in such a big city!!
Boycott their business!!
Was picked up at about 2AM, July 24 2011 at Kipling Station in Toronto. When we tried to give our driver directions, he insisted he knew the way and became belligerent with my friend. This continued the whole ride and he ultimately drove us back to Kipling Station, at which point he began yelling homophobic slurs at my friends and told other cabs waiting not to drive us because of a perceived sexuality. His cab licence number was A0645. Do not use this company.
Got picked up on Queen's Quay yesterday AM to the bus terminal. Fare was 11, paid him 22 and he refused to give me back my 10 in change. He was a 50-ish male of portugese/italian descent, driving a grey van.
I have ALWAYS found the drivers of Ambassador taxis polite and knowledgeable. It is my understanding that they are all owner driven and have a vested interest in being the best they can. Also, I have never got into one where the previous passenger had been smoking - that's a big deal to me.
