Provisional Driving Licences are only valid in the country of issue.

Residents:
You can exchange your national provisional driving licence for a Cyprus provisional licence providing you are resident and it was issued in the EU or by a one of these countries.

To apply for a Cyprus provisional driving licence:

To obtain a licence to enable you to learn to drive, application should be made at the

Department of Transport (DoRT) with the documents shown below.

The fee is £3. This covers the cost of a verbal test on the signs and highway code. You have to pass this test before a provisional driving licence will be issued. (Not required for an exchange licence)

Usually, if you attend between 1000hrs and 1200hrs you may take this test immediately. If not, make an appointment with the examiner to return at a more suitable time.

Return to the front office with the pass document and the documents and fee listed below to be issued with the provisional licence.

Documents required to obtain a Cyprus Provisional Driving Licence:

One passport style photograph

Residents Permit (what used to be the aliens registration card)

Produce evidence that you have been resident in Cyprus for six months eg. utility bill.
